Senior Product Manager / UX Strategist, Total Wine & More
Rob Colenso is a senior product manager and UX strategist with Total Wine & More, the nation’s largest independent retailer of fine wine, beer and spirits, where he leads user experience optimization efforts, teaches design thinking methods, and is establishing a UX strategy practice within the company’s Digital / E-Commerce team. Prior to joining Total Wine & More, Rob spent two years with Capital One, where he led a cross-functional product team responsible for early-stage product opportunity explorations and rapid prototyping at the intersection of Capital One’s products and the broader social media ecosystem, as well as in the emerging payments sector. Previously, Rob spent over a decade with Gannett Co., where he held product management roles of increasing responsibility within the company’s portfolio of local digital news products. It was at Gannett that Rob was first exposed to Design Thinking methods while working in close collaboration with the company’s Design and Innovation Group to develop new products that addressed unmet consumer needs. Before entering the product management field, Rob spent a decade as a journalist, primarily covering military affairs and national security policy. During that time, he led award-winning investigative projects and coordinated on-the-ground coverage of military conflict in Iraq, Afghanistan, Haiti and beyond. In his off time, Rob is an accomplished endurance sports athlete and regularly competes in ultramarathon-distance foot races of up to 100 miles in length, and is a Road Runners Club of America certified running coach.
